The Portuguese Water Dog, also called the Cao de Agua, is a Portuguese breed that belongs to the sporting group. These dogs were originally used to help fishermen to set nets and herd fish. They were also used to carry messages between boats. Today this dog is still a great water dog as well as a great family dog. This breed loves kids but most likely will not take orders from them. They are better suited for a single pet home as they have a tendency to be territorial and jealous.
