The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is an Irish terrier that most likely descends from the Kerry Blue Terrier. They were originally used to guard farms and animals, as well as for hunting and retrieving waterfowl. They are a medium sized dog that stands between 18 and 19 inches tall and that weighs between 35 and 45 pounds. They have a soft, silky, and fluffy coat that is wheaten, white, or white and red. Dark markings are also commonly found on their ears.
