Like Ty, Vanessa grew up adoring dogs but being in a family that did not want one. So as soon as she was moved out she got her first dog. Then she met a guy who wanted to own his own dog training business. Ty and Vanessa married and moved to Boston to work for a protection dog company. As soon as Vanessa birthed her first child Ty went home that day from the hospital to start his own business. (Funny how kids can motivate you into following your dreams like that.) While the business was in its beginnings, Vanessa paid the bills working many jobs with their children along in tow. At the same time she handled all the finances and behind the scenes logistics of the new business.
Fast forward a decade or so and Vanessa is still running all the important behind the scenes logistics but with a gang of four daughters instead of juggling quite a few part time jobs.
Vanessa as the owner handles the finances, human resources, operations, management of the office staff, and project management aspects of the business. She enjoys working with our very talented and kind office team throughout the week. When Ty has a huge idea she takes pride in figuring out all the details that need to happen to make it work and jumping in to make the grand idea come to fruition. Owning Ty the Dog Guy has made her proud to see how it provides for so many people and to watch all the trainers take such great concern and care towards their clients.
Currently Vanessa is enrolled at Huntsman Business School at Utah State University to finish up getting her degree in Business Management. Doing so has been pivotal for the growth of the business and also for her daughters to watch her complete.

Vanessa enjoys traveling with her four daughters to explore different cultures, foods, sights, and natural beauty. She enjoys reading, podcasts, supporting local shops/business, volunteering, and being a taxi driver for four daughters in competitive dance. When she gets the chance to veg out she wastes it by turning off her brain to watch Bravo TV and indulging on too many treats.
Vanessa and her family have been able to live and/or spend a lot of time in each location of the business. In Salt Lake City her favorite spots to spend time at are; Natural History Museum, Copper Onion, Broadway Theatre, Les Madelines, and driving through the mountains. In Charleston the beaches and hot chicken sandwiches took the cake. Spending time on Sullivan's Island with a good book, a beach chair and some gelato from Beard Cats made for the perfect afternoon. In Savannah she can never get enough of walking through all the historic squares and eating fresh pralines wherever she can find them. In the Bay Area she enjoys harvest season the most where you can find places everywhere to pick berries, plums, peaches, pomegranates, etc. Nashville and Austin are up on her list next to get to know and explore!
