The Silky Terrier, also called the Sydney Silky or the Australian Silky Terrier, is an Australian breed that was developed to be a family pet. Their terrier bloodline also makes them a skilled vermin hunter as well. They are a toy breed that only stands about 9 inches tall and weighs between 8 and 11 pounds.
They have a long glossy coat that can be gray, or gray and tan,. They are a friendly and vocal breed that loves to be social. If you have kids you will want to raise your Silky with them to makes sure they get along. Some Silkies that are not raised with kids can be stand-offish or snippy around kids.
