The Glen of Imaal Terrier is an Irish breed that originated in the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland. They are related to the Kerry Blue and the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, as well as to the Irish Terrier. This breed was originally bred to hunt vermin, fox, and badgers. They are known for being a scrappy little dog. Today this breed is mostly used as a family dog.
The Glen of Imaal Terrier stands between 12.5 and 14 inches tall and weighs about 35 pounds. They have a double coat that is coarse and weather-proof. They come in shades of wheaten, brindle and blue. They are a brave little dog that is usually mild mannered and gentle.
